Additional Benefit for Preply Students
If you take regular lessons with me through Preply, you can use Academy Basic at no extra cost. This applies to both new and existing Preply students. Exploring the owlviews Academy
Your learning journey is unique. The owlviews Academy combines independent learning, personal guidance and opportunities to connect with other German learners. Together, we find the learning options that suit your goals, your level and your everyday life.
The Idea Behind the owlviews Academy
I have been teaching German to adults online for many years, with a strong focus on clear learning structures, personal support and individual learning paths.
With the owlviews Academy, I want to further develop my personal, individually tailored approach to teaching German within a shared digital learning environment. The Academy combines independent learning with a protected space for exchange and mutual support. This is why I deliberately keep the personally guided learning circles small, generally with around four participants, so that there is enough time for individual questions and needs.
When it comes to booking arrangements, I also want to encourage long-term learning relationships without making them dependent on contractual obligations. I have worked with many of my learners for several years, and I greatly value this continuity because it allows for a trusting working relationship and sustained language development.
However, I believe that long-term teaching relationships should grow out of mutual commitment and satisfaction, rather than lengthy contracts or restrictive booking conditions. Ongoing agreements can therefore be cancelled at the end of any week. Pre-booked course series are subject to their respective booking conditions.
I am equally happy to support learners during shorter, intensive periods, such as several weeks of focused exam preparation.
My teaching offers are designed to accommodate different learning needs and lifestyles. They range from regular group courses and spontaneously arranged group or tandem lessons to one-to-one lessons with either fixed or flexible schedules. This allows learners to decide how they would like to organise their lessons and which learning format suits them best.
I aim to use digital tools thoughtfully and purposefully: they should enrich the learning experience, provide clear guidance and support personal interaction rather than replace it. A carefully designed, data-minimising system and responsible handling of personal information are equally important to me.
You can learn more about my qualifications, teaching experience and professional background in the “Qualifications and Experience” section of my one-to-one lessons page.
Your Learning Circle: Shared Support, Individual Goals
Your learning circle is your learning community within the Academy. When creating these groups, I take particular account of language levels, learning goals and, wherever possible, shared interests.
You can exchange ideas, ask questions and arrange practice with other learners while working towards your own goals. You do not all have to work on the same tasks or learn at the same pace.
Unlike a small-group course, a learning circle does not follow one shared lesson programme. Instead, it brings together individual learning journeys through exchange and supervised study sessions.
You can also arrange independent practice with other learners without booking a teacher-led lesson. Taking part in these activities is optional.
Supervised Study Sessions
During supervised study sessions, we meet online. You can work independently on your own tasks, use materials I recommend or practise together with other learners.
I am available throughout the session to answer questions, offer brief explanations and help you plan your next steps.
These sessions are not regular group or individual lessons. There is no shared lesson programme for everyone, and my support is divided among those attending. Topics requiring more detailed explanations or intensive individual guidance can be addressed in a separate lesson.
Your Digital Learning Environment
The Academy’s digital resources support you both during lessons and while studying independently. They serve different purposes but can all be accessed through a central learning space.
Information and Access
Your learning space brings together important information, current schedules and access to your learning resources and learning circle.
From here, you can access the materials and activities available to you, as well as the shared areas of your learning circle.
Interactive Learning and Practice
Practise grammar, vocabulary and other language skills at your own pace. Digital exercises allow you to explore new topics, review lesson content and repeat activities whenever you need more practice.
Together, we choose suitable exercises to support your next learning steps.
Personal Materials and Private Resources
Your personal worksheets, lesson documents and additional resources are available in a protected online space. They complement the shared learning activities and help you continue working on your own topics between lessons.
Your Learning Environment – Together or Individually
You can use the digital learning environment in group mode or individual mode.
Group Mode
Access your learning circle, connect with other learners, practise together and use the Academy’s shared learning opportunities. Taking part in the exchange with others is optional.
Individual Mode
Use your personal lesson materials, exercises and other available learning resources without group features.
Group mode is required if you want to book small-group or two-person lessons. In individual mode, you can book one-to-one lessons only. In group mode, all lesson formats are available to you, including one-to-one lessons.
Supervised study sessions take place within the learning circles and are only available to learners in group mode. Participation is optional.
Your choice of mode does not change the Academy Basic fee or the applicable lesson prices.
An Academy in Development
The Academy is constantly being developed, updated and expanded. New resources and activities are added step by step, with a focus on what genuinely supports your learning.
Lessons Tailored to Your Needs
Combine independent learning, supervised study sessions and lessons according to your needs. You do not have to commit to just one learning format.
Small-Group Courses
A regular teacher-led course for two to four learners with compatible language levels and learning goals. Participants follow a shared learning programme at regular times.
The first courses will start once suitable groups and schedules have been agreed.
You can find further details on the separate page for my group courses.
Lessons for Two and Flexible Small Groups
Two or more learners can book lessons with me together. Two-person lessons are designed for a pair of learners, but individual sessions for small groups of three or four participants can also be arranged.
We work towards suitable shared goals, such as practising conversations, grammar or preparing for exams. Unlike self-organised learning partnerships, these are teacher-led lessons that I plan and guide personally.
Lessons can be arranged as needed. For flexible small-group sessions, we agree on the specific booking conditions in advance.
Regular Small-Group Courses in the Learning Club
My regular small-group courses, on the other hand, are part of the Learning Club. Two to four learners follow a shared learning programme at fixed weekly times. These courses are generally booked in blocks of ten lessons.
You can find further details on the separate page for my group courses.
One-to-One Lessons
Individual lessons focus entirely on your questions, your pace and your goals. They are particularly suitable for intensive practice, focused exam preparation or topics you would like to explore in greater depth.
You can find further details on the separate page for my one-to-one lessons.

Academy Basic – Fees and Membership Terms
For New Students Booking Directly with Me
For new lesson arrangements made directly with me, Academy Basic is an integral part of our agreement. Membership is required for these lessons, whether you use the learning environment in group mode or individual mode.
€5 per Week
The Academy Basic fee is €5 per week if no lessons are booked that week. If you book at least one one-to-one, tandem or small-group lesson in a given week, the basic fee is waived entirely for that week.
Cancellation at the End of Any Week
Your membership continues until you cancel it. You can end it at the end of any week. Since membership and lessons are linked, the associated lesson agreement also ends at that time.
Academy Breaks
During announced Academy breaks, no basic fee is charged and no supervised study sessions take place. Access to your learning environment and previously unlocked materials remains available.
Academy breaks are generally based on the main school holiday periods in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). The exact dates are announced in advance and published in the current study schedule.
Individual public holidays are not automatically treated as Academy breaks; the published schedule applies.
No basic fee is charged for weeks that are only partially available because of an Academy break.
Exceptions: Preply and Existing Lesson Agreements
This compulsory membership model does not apply to lessons through Preply, including lessons with new Preply students. If you take regular lessons with me through Preply, you can use Academy Basic as an optional benefit at no extra cost.
Existing Lesson Agreements
For my regular students whose lesson agreement was already in place when the Academy model was introduced on 9 October 2026, the individually agreed terms will continue to apply unchanged. Academy membership is not required for these existing lesson agreements.
